Gordon Enviropacks: Levels of Containment

The Gordon Brothers Enviropack has been successfully installed into areas considered to be highly sensitive to the potential release of the ammonia into the atmosphere. Industries such as mining, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage have benefited from the installation of Enviropacks. As outlined in the levels of containment below, the Enviropack, satisfies the requirements for level 3 containment. Should an ammonia leak occur, the acoustically lined and sealed enclosure will contain any potential ammonia leaks, whilst ammonia detectors will activate an ammonia scrubbing system, which will safely absorb any air borne ammonia into a water scrubber tank. Once the ammonia detectors sense that the ammonia has been removed, the Enviropack can be entered safely.

Refrigeration Standards Update

Standards Australia has recently released five new Standards relating to refrigeration systems and refrigerant designation which has superseded the equivalent existing standards AS/NZS 1677.1 Refrigerating systems, Part 1: Refrigerant classification and AS/NZS 1677.2 Refrigerating systems, Part 2: Safety requirements for fixed applications which have been in use since 1998.

Cascade Systems – Defrost Methods

A cascade refrigeration system can have energy consumption advantages over a more conventional two-stage industrial refrigeration system, especially where very low temperatures (in the order of -30°C and below) are required for a particular process.

Ammonia Safety Days

In 2015 Gordon Brothers launched a series of Ammonia Safety & Training Institute safety days around Australia. ASTI is the global pre-eminent ammonia safety training organisation responsible for making training available in the US, Canada, Australia and Central/South America. The ASTI suite of training programs range from in depth, one week courses held in the US, which include large live ammonia release and other research projects, right through to safety days and site specific emergency response training sessions which are held in all participating countries.
